Leona Lewis Bespoke Cavalli BRITs Dress To Be Auctioned

Imagine if you had the chance to buy Audrey Hepburn’s black dress from ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ or Marilyn Monroe’s iconic white dress from ‘Seven Year Itch’ or maybe Madonna’s famous Gaultier corset dress – That would be your retirement sorted out. Now Sport Relief have teamed up with Leona Lewis and iconic fashion designer Roberto Cavalli to give you the chance to help a worthy cause whilst getting the same investment chance.

leonalewis.jpgOn the 20th February 2008 Leona Lewis stunned audiences in a specially designed one-off Cavalli dress when she gave an incredible performance of her massive hit single ‘Bleeding Love’ at the BRIT Awards. Now you have the chance to buy this item of pop memorabilia. Leona’s dress will be auctioned off on eBay. All the money will go directly to Sport Relief.

The dress was designed and made over two months, with Roberto and Leona discussing ideas about how to make the perfect dress for the occasion.

The Cavalli team worked for nearly 50 hours non-stop to make and embroider the dress from over 55 metres of materials including taffetas and tulle, the bodice – hand encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals.

Roberto Cavalli said; “It’s been a great pleasure, for me to work with Leona Lewis right from the start. She has an incredible voice, beautiful eyes, and a fresh and positive attitude. Her stellar, instant success is the proof that real talent still counts. Leona is becoming a role model, her fame is all about strong will and hard work.

I’m happy that a dress I have created for her for an important occasion, is now being auctioned for a charity. It’s a sign of her great generosity and I’m proud that the name Roberto Cavalli is linked to it.”

Leona’s new single, out Monday March 10th, ‘Footprints In The Sand/ Better in Time’ is the official Sport Relief single of 2008. Videos for both are available now at www.youtube.com/leonalewis.

‘Sport Relief harnesses the power and passion of sport to change lives for the better and this year everyone in the UK is being asked to rise to the challenge, have fun and raise cash. The ultimate challenge will take place on March 16th when hundreds of thousands of people across the UK will be taking to the streets and getting sponsored to be part of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.

‘Money raised through Sport Relief is spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. Taking time out from her busy schedule Leona is all set to travel to Africa to see for herself just how the money raised is hard at work changing people’s lives.
