Roan Inc.’s Annual Pre-Christmas Auction is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, December 12 and 13 at their gallery, located five miles north of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Included in the over 400 lots of antiques and collectibles is a good selection of artwork, including several important works by American master painter Hugh Cabot.
The Web site for the Hugh Cabot Gallery, located in Arizona, includes this biography of the artist who was born in 1930 and died in 2005.
“Boston born, Hugh Cabot is considered to be one of America’s foremost painters and an American Master Painter and sculptor. He was the official Combat Artist for the Korean War. These works hang in Washington, D.C. and belong to the nation.
Cabot lived and worked in Tubac, Arizona, where his studio and gallery are located. Prior to discovering the astonishing light in Tubac, he was in Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and West Texas.
Listed in Who’s Who in American Art; Who’s Who in International Art; Who’s Who in the World; Who’s Who in America, Hugh Cabot died recently. His works are still being shown and sold from the gallery in Tubac.
Hugh Cabot’s works have been exhibited in most major museums in the world and in every major city in the United States. His works are collected worldwide, and many can be found in museums and university collections throughout the United States.”
