The Rare Natural History: Jurassic Auction, which has become a highly anticipated event for collectors of naturally formed phenomena such as asteroids and fossils, features a rare Dryosaurus Altus dinosaur skeleton.

The Dryosaurus Altus skeleton is one of only two specimens in the world. It was collected in 1993 in Wyoming and has been has been examined by Dr. Rod Scheetz of Brigham Young University. The expert on Hypsilophodontids, of which Dryosaurus is a member, stated “this is the best specimen” he has ever seen. It is expected to bring as much as $500,000 or even more.

Since the only other Dryosaurus specimen resides at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, many dinosaur buffs may never have seen one. All that will change when the skelton mount Dryosaurus Altus make a personal appearance at Grand Central Station a few days before the Rare Natural History: Jurassic Auction. Details have not yet been announced.
