The score is signed and dated on the first page, and is estimated to sell for £30,000 – 40,000.

Other musical lots include letters from English composers such as Vaughan Williams, and a very important series from American modernist Charles Ives and the expressionist Arnold Schoenberger. The range of lots on offer extends from 20th century Academy Award certificates back to 17th century printed scores, including an early version of Thomas Arne’s “Rule Britannia”.

Other noteworthy items from the film world in this exciting sale include letters from some of the genre’s most enduring legends such as Orson Welles and Martin Scorsese, and fascinating books, of which one is inscribed by Hitchcock to Herrmann with his famous self-caricature.
