On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auction houses for antiques and fine art, will kick-off a two-day Discovery auction featuring Silver and Estate Jewelry in its new gallery in Marlborough, Mass. The auction begins on the 18th at 2 p.m. at 274 Cedar Hill Street, Skinner’s new facility located off exit 23C on Route 495, just north of the Mass Pike, and continues on Thursday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. The auction numbers over 1,200 lots and features offerings of Silver and Estate Jewelry, including sterling and silver plated flatware, serving and display pieces as well as estate and costume jewelry.
Wednesday Session
During the Wednesday session, silver highlights include makers Tiffany, Gorham, and Kirk in a wide variety of patterns, styles, and sizes. Following silver is over 200 lots of estate jewelry including retro 1940s and 1950s artist-designed pieces, signed vintage costume jewelry, and a wide selection of Victorian and later estate and costume jewelry, as well as large a group of pocket watches.
Thursday Session
On Thursday, the auction features Discovery’s usual fare: a wide and varied offering of estate furnishings, decorative accessories, carpets & rugs, and artwork from the 18th – 20th century. Furniture styles include American country, English, Victorian, and fine quality reproduction and custom made furniture.
