Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers , the world’s largest industrial auctioneer, is returning to Bakersfield, California to conduct its second multi-million dollar unreserved public equipment auction in the area this year. On March 27, 2009, Ritchie Bros. conducted an unreserved auction in Bakersfield that attracted almost 1,350 registered bidders from the U.S., Canada and 12 other countries. More than 1,100 items from 135 owners were sold during the auction to 430 buyers. Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ second unreserved auction in Bakersfield, to be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, starting at 8:00 a.m., will be substantially larger with over 2,900 items to be sold and more items still being added to the sale right up to auction day.
More than 2,700 of the 2,900 equipment items being sold in the June auction are part of a large package signed by United Rentals that includes late model, low hour construction equipment and concrete fabrication equipment. United Rentals, which sold 170 equipment items in the March Bakersfield auction, was satisfied with the returns from that sale, and as a result, decided to sell more of their excess equipment through Ritchie Bros. in a second unreserved Bakersfield auction.
“Our unreserved Bakersfield auction in March was very successful and we were able to capitalize on that and plan for a second auction within a much shorter time frame than expected. Having another auction so soon after our last one is a fantastic opportunity to continue to establish our presence in the area,” said Ken Spicer, Territory Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. “Even more exciting is the amount of repeat business we secured for this upcoming auction from customers involved in the March sale. All these factors are really a testament to the ability of Ritchie Bros. to adapt and react to our customers’ needs in an ever-changing marketplace.”
Other owners returning to Bakersfield to sell their equipment through Ritchie Bros. include Ahern Rentals, Kiewit Corp., Premier Equipment Rentals and Sturgeon & Son, Inc. In addition to the late model construction equipment and concrete equipment featured in the sale, various transportation items and a large selection of aerial platforms and lifting equipment including more than 160 scissor lifts, 90 telescopic forklifts, 70 forklifts and 50 boom lifts will also be sold. Every item in the auction will be sold to the highest bidders on auction day with no minimum bids or reserve prices.
