Kaminski Auctions, one of Massachusetts’ premier antiques and fine art auction houses, announces its September Estates Auction. The two-day auction features antiques, fine art, collectibles and a selection of fine silver pieces from estates spanning Massachusetts to Kaminski’s second location in California. The auction takes place Saturday and Sunday September 26-27 at 10am under the tent at Kaminski Auctions, 564 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA. Among a wide selection of fine art, antiques and collectibles is a Continental 88 silver figural centerpiece (Est. $12,000-$15,000). The ornate centerpiece features a draped male figure supporting an intricately decorated sailing vessel over his shoulders. The ship’s gold-washed interior stands in contrast to the pieces highly-polished silver exterior. Measuring 24.5 inches tall, the entire piece weighs a hefty 190 ozt. in total.
Additional silver offerings include a silver and crystal punch bowl with a sterling ladle (Est. $8,000-$10,000). The punch bowl is marked “Bolin” and stands at 13 inches in height. The vessel’s cover bears a floral design and is topped with a silver pineapple figure. The ladle boasts an ornate design as well, with delicate swirls extending from the handle to the piece’s basin.
Fine art is also offered at this exciting two-day auction. A painting by American artist Franz Arthur Bischoff (1864-1929) titled Pebble Beach (Est. $6,000-$8,000) is scheduled to cross the block. The painting, an oil on canvas, is signed and inscribed in pencil “Pearl St. F.A. Bischoff”. The piece measures 20 x 24 inches in its gilt frame.
Also featured is a sculpture by Harriet Frishmuth (Est. $5,000-$6,000). The sculpture, a bronze figure of a nude woman, is signed, numbered and dated 1918. It is also stamped “Roman Bronze Works, N.Y. and measures 19.75 inches in height. Frishmuth is a highly collected sculptor, and another of her sculptures brought an impressive $31,600 at Kaminski’s April 2009 auction.
