Garth’s Auctions Adds Gemologist

National art and antiques auction firm, Garth’s of Delaware, Ohio has announced the addition of precious metals and jewelry expert, Lisa Darke. Darke has been designing fine jewelry in Columbus, Ohio for 16 years and has achieved national recognition for her designs including awards from the Ohio Jewelers Association and Platinum Guild International. She is a graduate of The Columbus School for Girls and the Rhode Island School of Design, where she has received three AGTA Spectrum Awards. In addition to jewelry design, Lisa is experienced in diamond and gemstone grading through coursework at GIA, the Gemological Institute of America.

“When Lisa approached us about a collaboration, it was a no-brainer. We have known one another for years, and her professionalism, knowledge and talent are impressive. Having Lisa on board allows us to provide options: both for high-end estate jewelry and for items that may otherwise not be appropriate for Garth’s,” comments Garth’s C.E.O., Jeff Jeffers. “Folks are simplifying. Combine these changes in lifestyle with the current {high} values for precious metals, and the demand for a jewelry expert at our monthly walk-in appraisal days has been strong.”

As well as helping clients with the consignment of their items, Darke will offer an option of an outright sale. “My parents were avid Americana collectors,” says Darke. “When it is appropriate to preserve a relevant piece of history, consignment with Garth’s will be the first choice. However, in many cases, items that are outdated or damaged can be resold and repurposed. As a precious metals buyer, I can purchase those items outright, offering a simple, immediate solution.”

Darke will make her debut on the panel of Garth’s experts at the next walk-in appraisal day, on October 27 from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm at 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware, Ohio. Questions?
