Firm Leads the Market with $8 Million in US Sales
Chicago, IL – Hart Davis Hart achieved strong results from their two-day auction of Finest & Rarest Wines in Chicago, IL with 99.9% of lots sold realizing $4,436,497 against a pre-sale estimate of $2,878,770 -$4,299,740. A prominent private collection featuring a comprehensive offering of Bordeaux estimated at $936,620-$1,401,780 realized $1,484,620. Two cases of 1982 Château Lafite Rothschild (est. $28,000-$42,000) brought $45,410 each, while three cases of 1996 Château Lafite Rothschild brought $13,145 each (est. $7,500-$11,000). Another notable consignment from Bacchus Partners fetched $926,041 against an estimate $627,620- $936,590.
Other highlights included 2000 Château Lafite Rothschild which hammered at the high estimate, achieving $26,290 against a pre-sale estimate of $14,000- $22,000. Burgundy collectors were very active as well, and a 1996 DRC Assortment (est. $11,000-17000) sold for $20,315 while a magnum of 1999 Montrachet Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (est. $2,400-$3,500) fetched $7,170.

Eager bidders participated from 40 states, and the District of Columbia, as well as Puerto Rico, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. HDHLive continued to be a popular live internet bidding platform, with active participants from around the world.
“Today we witnessed another affirmation that the rare wine market remains robust and quite healthy. Prices stabilized at historically high levels, which should be good news for anyone intending to sell at this time,” commented Vice Chairman Michael Davis.
