Cat Auction Services Announces Des Moines, Iowa, Auction

Cat Auction Services, recognized the world over for its commitment to building customer loyalty, has announced it will hold an unreserved public auction in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday, June 17. Coming on the heels of auctions in Houston, Texas, and the Twin Cities, Minn., the Iowa auction returns Cat Auction Services to the city of its inaugural auction in late 2008. The event will be held at McAninch Corporation (4001 Delaware Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa) and will include a broad assortment of heavy equipment from a number of manufacturers. The auction will begin at 9 a.m. local time.

Featuring a wide variety of excavators, track-type tractors, ag tractors, loaders and trucks, among other equipment, the Des Moines event is expected to draw bidders from across the United States and around the world. Interested buyers are invited to view the entire equipment list online prior to the event by visiting www.catauctions.com. Real-time online bidding will be available on the day of the auction through the company’s website. Participants are invited to register early and access inspection reports on the equipment.

Cat Auction Services President Rick Albin said, “We’re thrilled to be coming back to Des Moines to the site where we kicked everything off a year-and-a-half ago. As a company, we’ve come a long way in a short amount of time — our audiences have grown significantly larger, we’ve drastically improved our online bidding system and the services and products we provide have expanded. But our commitment to providing buyers and sellers with the best auction experience possible has not — and will not — change.”

Albin noted that the feedback the company has received surrounding its auction-theater setup and innovative Leaderboard™ display has been very positive. “We’re hitting all of our targets and the support we’ve received from buyers and sellers alike reinforces the fact that we’re delivering on our promise to provide great value to all involved. Our offerings — including our detailed inspection reports and warranty options — quite simply have no equal. And the wide range of exclusive Caterpillar services we provide give our buyers more options, more flexibility and more confidence than anyone else can provide.” Albin stated that more than 230 pieces of equipment have been consigned to the Iowa auction and more items are being added weekly — many of which qualify for an extended Equipment Protection Plan.

In addition to offering on-site bidding, Cat auctions attract thousands of bidders online. Through Cat Auction Services’ proprietary online bidding system, the company is able to tailor the experience to match that of its on-site participants. Albin said, “Honestly, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of an on-site auction — it’s an exciting, fast-paced event. But recognizing that a huge number of our customers are following us online, we’ve done absolutely everything in our power to bring that level of energy to the Internet, ensuring everyone is a part of the action.”

Cat Auction Services entered the heavy equipment auction arena in late 2008 and has been active across the country. Reviews from all corners have been positive, and the auctions have drawn buyers from 49 states and nearly three dozen countries.

By conducting auctions that provide value to both the buyers and sellers, Cat Auction Services complements and enhances the relationship between Cat dealers and their customers. Cat Auction Services was formed through a unique partnership of Cat dealers with the endorsement of Caterpillar, Inc. The addition of a proprietary auction arm to the portfolio of services available to Cat customers and others in the heavy equipment industry builds upon the company’s existing customer loyalty.
