Heritage appoints Matt Rubinger as Director of Luxury Accessories

Heritage Auction Galleries has announced the appointment of Matthew Rubinger to the position of Consignment Director for its newly formed Luxury Accessories category, encompassing high-end handbags, luggage, wallets, belts and all associated accompaniments.

“Matt has a world of experience that belies his age,” said Tiffany Dubin, Vice President of Business Development at Heritage, with whom Rubinger will be working closely. “He has spent more than a decade dealing with the top dealers, buyers and items in his category, and has, in that time, gained the full trust and confidence of his colleagues.

Rubinger’s is one of the foremost specialists in antique, vintage, rare and exotic handbags, accessories, and luggage – from high-end designers including Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balenciaga, Goyard, Bottega Veneta, Judith Leiber and others. He has been featured in the Washington Post and on CNN for his authentication and valuation skills of designer goods, and is a frequent source for journalists across many different forms of media for his expertise in the luxury accessory category.

In 2007 he launched the Accessories Category at Portero.com, a high-end Website for buyers of quality luxury items. The category was a hit and Rubinger’s course was set.

“I am thrilled to be part of starting this category at Heritage, especially as the company expands into the New York market,” said Rubinger, “and I look forward to working with Tiffany Dubin, whose well-earned, superb reputation in the luxury accessories business certainly precedes her. My focus is on finding the true investment pieces for our clients in the vast luxury market, and Heritage’s reach and model, in my estimation, makes it the auction house best equipped for the discriminating luxury accessory market.”

Matt will be working from Heritage’s new offices in New York, located at 445 Park Avenue (at 57th Street).

Heritage Auctions, headed by Steve Ivy, Jim Halperin and Greg Rohan, is the world’s third largest auction house, with annual sales more than $600 million, and 500,000+ registered online bidder members.
