PERIOD AMERICAN AND CONTINENTAL FURNITURE, VINTAGE CARS, CIVIL WAR ITEMS AND MORE WILL CROSS THE BLOCK MAY 30th IN FLOWERY BRANCH, GA.

The auction will be conducted by Flowery Branch Auction & Antiques, starting at 10 a.m. (EDT)

(FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga.) – Between 500 and 600 quality lots of period American and continental furniture pieces, vintage automobiles, Civil War items and more will be sold at auction on Memorial Day Monday, May 30, by Flowery Branch Auction & Antiques, located at 5540 Atlanta Highway in Flowery Branch, a town situated north and east of Atlanta, off I-985.

“We have some exceptional, rare and highly desirable items in this sale,” said Tom Schulte of Flowery Branch Auction & Antiques. “I expect some of the top collectors and dealers from the Atlanta area and around the country to vigorously participate in this auction. We’re expecting a live crowd of around 300 people, plus hundreds more online via Auctionzip.com.”

One of the vintage cars expected to generate intense bidder interest is a 1968 Buick Electra 225, formerly owned by Andruw Jones, the ex-Atlanta Brave now playing for the New York Yankees. The car (which Jones sold to pro football great Joe Horn) features the original condition rebuilt engine, grey suede seats, Bentley carpet and a fiberglass modified dashboard.

Many of the lots in the sale were consigned by a large Virginia estate that represents multiple generations of collectors. Period American furniture will be offered in abundance, much of it early to late 18th century. Lots will include a full-size poster rope bed, an Empire mahogany curio, a golden oak buffet, a tiger oak curio, a hideaway dinette and a mahogany music cabinet.

Additional American pieces will feature a tiger oak round pedestal ball-and-claw-foot table, a tiger oak étagère, a tiger oak seated hall tree, a steamer bureau-style trunk, a Queen Anne mahogany curio, a primitive corner cabinet and a mahogany case clock. Civil War items will include a uniform and swords. Also sold will be a Victrola music player in a mahogany cabinet.

Many other notable items are also expected to get paddles wagging. Lots of interest will include a French gilt corner armchair, a French painted splat armchair, a selection of Victorian and other chairs, a Victorian sofa, side tables and a vintage wicker table with hideaway chairs, probably made around the 1940s. A 10 percent buyer’s premium will be applied to all on-site purchases made with cash, approved check and debit card; 13 percent for credit card purchases; and 18 percent for all Internet purchases.

The sale will begin promptly at 10 a.m. (EDT), with a preview slated for 8-10 a.m. The event will be held inside the same venue as a monthly antiques and collectibles show with about 60 dealers, also staged by Flowery Branch Auction & Antiques. The 40,000-square-foot building serves both purposes. An on-site restaurant will serve both breakfast and lunch at the auction.

Flowery Branch Antiquers & Auctions’ next big auction event will be another holiday extravaganza, slated for Monday, July 4, in the same venue, beginning at 10 a.m. (EDT), with a preview from 8-10 a.m. (or by appointment). Consignments for this auction are still being accepted. Interested parties may contact Tom Schulte for details and info, at (770) 313-1902.

Flowery Branch Auction & Antiques is always accepting quality consignments for future auctions. The firm is also taking qualified vendor applications for dealer space at its monthly antiques and collectibles shows.
