Bonhams Call For Consignments For 2nd Annual Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction

Following the news of significant two-wheeled machinery sold at Bonhams’ Quail Lodge sale in Carmel, the auction house is pleased to announce that it’s accepting consignments for its anticipated Las Vegas motorcycle sale in January.

Last month, in true pioneering spirit, Bonhams offered motorcycles for the very first time during the Pebble Beach Car Week. While, most notably, the ultra-rare 1954 AJS E95 ‘Porcupine’ Works Racer came just shy of its reserve, its exhilarating high bid reached what would’ve been a new world record for a motorcycle sold at auction – $650,000! Even more exciting was the sale of two other motorcycles of importance that were on offer. The historic1940 Brough Superior SS100, the very last to roll off the production line, traded hands for a very respectable $295,000 while a rare 1928 Coventry Eagle Flying-8 OHV made a record $263,500.

With this kind of success and its long track record as the world’s leading auctioneer of motorcycles, Bonhams’ second annual sale in Las Vegas is sure to draw an impressive crowd.

Last year, the firm’s inaugural Las Vegas auction achieved an astounding $2.5-million, with several world records made and six motorcycles alone exceeding $100,000 each. There were bikes represented from the dawn of motoring, such as the exceedingly rare and significant 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller, to the futuristic and limited edition 2002 Ducati MH900.

“This year,” says US Head of Motoring, Mark Osborne, “we anticipate attracting a similar level of consignments worthy of collectors’ attention worldwide. Our goal is to build on the strength of our first showing and make this the best motorcycle auction anywhere on Earth and we’re on track to do just that.”

In all, Bonhams’ 2011 motorcycle sales in the U.S. achieved more than $4-million, while the firm’s worldwide sales doubled. Collectors from around the globe, including the revered Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, choose Bonhams to represent their motorcycles.

For premium placement and marketing coverage, Bonhams now invites early consignments. Call now to avoid disappointment. Interested sellers may ring 415-391-4000
