What could be one of the largest single owner collections of model trains is to be auctioned in Lichfield on the 28th June.
The private collection of a deceased gentleman had been sourced from a Warwickshire home is a train lovers’ dream come true. The collection amounting to thousands of model 00 gauge diesel and steam locomotives had been amassed over many years. Represented are many well-known makes such as Lima, Hornby, Hornby Dublo, Wrenn, Bachmann and Mainline, a lot of which are still in their original boxes. There is also a large emphasis on kit built model locos, where many patient hours had been spent creating the finely detailed liveries. There is also a large quantity of assorted rolling stock on offer.
In addition there is a vast library of reference books on the subject of railways and an impressive railway enthusiasts’ archive of photographs of railway locomotives throughout of the country.
The collection has been divided into over 130 Lots and will be offered in Richard Winterton’s Collectors’ Sale on Thursday 28th June at The Lichfield Auction Centre. The preview day is Wednesday 27th June from 11am to 6.30pm and the sale day from 9am to 10am when the auction commences.
