Prosser Collection of Toys and Model Trains at Richard Winterton Auctioneers

On Tuesday 25th November Richard Winterton Auctioneers of Lichfield will be offering for auction the David Prosser collection of vintage toys and model trains.

David Prosser TrainDavid Prosser (b.1943) (or Pross as he was affectionately known in his youth) is a proud Brummie through and through. Born and brought up in the Stechford area of Birmingham, he lived in a council house where the nearby fields, trees and river provided the adventure he craved as a child. 1948 to 1958 was spent at The Audley Road School where he enjoyed sport and excelled at the high jump.

In later life David developed a keen interest in vintage toys and particularly model trains and began to build up a private collection. Scouring auctions, fairs and shops, he quickly developed an eye for quality and thus built up a fine collection which gave him much pleasure.

Offered in over two hundred Lots, the collection includes such nostalgic toys as Meccano, tinplate, clockwork, lead figures, puppets, Dinky Toys etc. In the model railway line there is Hornby O Gauge, Bing, Karl Bub, Bassett-Lowke, kits, Trix, Graham Farish, Hornby Dublo etc.

It is hoped that the collection will find new homes where it will give as much pleasure as it did to David.

Viewing for the Auction is Monday 24th November from 2pm to 7pm and the sale day, (25th November) from 8.30am. The auction will commence at 1pm.

Interested parties who are unable to make the sale day can view the fully illustrated catalogue and bid live online at www.the-saleroom.com/richardwinterton
