What was once a child’s prized collection of 1960’s toys has been discovered gathering dust in a local attic.
The stash of Corgi diecast models retain their original boxes and must have been cherished by the owner as they are in exceptionally good condition, a rarity with most vintage toys.
Highlights from the collection include a gift set No. 17, Land Rover hauling a Ferrari and a Power Major tractor with ‘roadless’ halftracks.
TV/film related Corgi/Dinky models are especially sought after and included here is the iconic boxed James Bond Aston Martin DB5 from ‘Goldfinger’, a Batmobile and a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car with four figures.
The collection is going under the gavel at Richard Winterton’s Lichfield two-day Antiques, Homes & Interiors Auction next week, (18th and 19th December). Viewing is on Tuesday 17th from 2pm to 7pm and Sale days from 9am. Pre-sale estimates range from £50 to over £200.
To coincide with the sale, a special free valuation day for all vintage toys, model trains and dolls will be held at the Lichfield City Centre Salerooms on Monday 16th December from 10am to 2pm. Please phone 01543 251081 for further details.
