Christie’s South Kensington presents THE LONDON SALE, themed exhibition and auction. The special extended exhibition, which will run for six-weeks throughout the Olympic Summer from 27 July through to the auction on 3 September 2012, is sure to prove popular with visitors to the buzzing cultural hub of South Kensington.
Comprising a total of 167 lots, the exhibition and sale will present a broad variety of items synonymous with London. The display offers an exciting opportunity for lovers of, and visitors to, London to explore the history of one of the most popular cities in the world. The auction will present the chance for collectors to acquire pieces of the city’s iconic imagery and history from pictures and prints, through to rock and roll, Royal, Olympic and political memorabilia, and even a 1966 RML Leyland London Routemaster double-decker bus.

Open seven days a week, Christie’s South Kensington is one of the busiest salerooms in the UK attracting over 200,000 visitors each year. With over 100 sales and offering more than 20,000 lots annually, estimates start from £300. Interiors sales dedicated to home furnishings are held three times a month alongside regular Sunday sales of single-owner collections. Specialised sales for the avid collector are scheduled throughout the year according to category, and include Film Posters, Pop Memorabilia, Antiquities, Jewellery, 20th Century British Art and Chinese Works of Art, among others. In 2011 Christie’s South Kensington realised the highest ever total for the second successive year with sales of £115.9 million / $186.6 million.
