Bonhams to host auction of Fine European Furniture and Decorative Arts on December 3

Bonhams announce its December 3 auction of Fine European Furniture and Decorative Arts featuring property from the Estate of American fashion critic, television and radio personality, journalist, actor and designer, Robert Blackwell.

Launched in 1960, the “Ten Worst Dressed Women List” gained popularity over the years due in part to Mr. Blackwell’s dynamic personality and his well placed jibes and jabs directed at celebrities such as Julie Andrews, Mariah Carey, Cher, Bo Derek, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Latoya Jackson, Dolly Parton, Debbie Reynolds, Julia Roberts, Nicollette Sheridan and Martha Stewart. The “List” as it was known to many, gained popularity and ran for many decades on radio, television and news services around the globe.

Highlights from the Collection of Mr. Robert Blackwell include: a stunning French gilt bronze mounted porcelain urn form clock (est. $7,000-9,000); a fine quality Louis XV style gilt bronze mounted inlaid walnut commode by noted maker Paul Sormani (est. $6,000-8,000); a pair of handsome French gilt bronze five light candelabra (est. $3,000-5,000); a French patinated bronze figure of a shepherd boy and his dog, after a model by Eugene-Antoine Aizelin (est. $3,000-5,000) and a pair of wonderful quality Louis XVI style gilt bronze six light candelabra, F. Bardedienne foundry, Paris (est. $3,000-5,000), among others.

Additional works from the Estate of Mr. Blackwell will be offered during the November 11 Period Art & Design auction in Los Angeles.
