Hart Davis Hart to Auction a Magnificent Selection of Mature Bordeaux, Rare Burgundy and Classic California Wines on February 2nd at TRU Restaurant

(Chicago, IL) – Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., the internationally renowned wine auction house and retailer, will hold an auction of Finest and Rarest Wines February 2nd at award-winning restaurant TRU, located at 676 North St. Clair Street in Chicago. The auction, which includes 1339 lots, is estimated to fetch $2.8-$4.34 million and will begin at 9:00am.

The auction features “A Private Library of Extraordinary Bordeaux,” containing an amazing collection of Bordeaux from a private cellar on the West Coast. One hundred sixty cases of 1995 Bordeaux will be offered, including seven cases of Lafite (lots 236-242), thirteen cases of Latour (lots 244-256), nineteen cases of Margaux (lots 258-276), and an incredible twenty-seven cases of Mouton (lots 278-304). This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire case quantities of a highly regarded vintage. The provenance is impeccable with all wines purchased as futures and stored in professional wine storage.

Bidders will also find top wines from Burgundy including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, featuring 107 lots worth an estimated $648,050- $967,850. Prominent among these offerings is 1 bottle of 2005 Romanée-Conti and 6 lots of Montrachet (all in 3 bottle OWCs) from 1988, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2009. Other Burgundy highlights include an extraordinary case of 1990 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux, Henri Jayer (est. $70,000-$110,000) purchased directly from the importer, Martine’s Wines. A dazzling array of highly-sought California wines is also available. Fans of Sine Qua Non will want to review the 61 lots of the coveted cult, spanning 14 vintages from 1996-2010. Highlights include 6 bottles of The Inaugural Assortment (OWC) (est. $3,000-$4,500), 6 bottles of 2002 Just For The Love Of It, Red Wine (est. $3,000-$4,500) and a case of 2009 Sine Qua Non Syrah, The Thrill Of Stamp Collecting (est. $2,400-$3,500).

On the evening preceding the auction, HDH will host a horizontal tasting and dinner featuring ten wines of 1995 Bordeaux at acclaimed Blackbird Restaurant in Chicago. Chef Paul Kahan will present a multicourse menu focusing on dishes that have a natural affinity for the wines’ complex, terroir-driven flavors. Featured wines include Châteaux Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux, Cheval Blanc and La Mission Haut-Brion among others. All wines for this special dinner were sourced from the auction consignment entitled “A Private Library of Extraordinary Bordeaux.”
