(Chicago, IL) – Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., the internationally renowned wine auction house and retailer, will hold an exciting two-day auction of Finest and Rarest Wines on May 17th and 18th at award-winning restaurant Tru in Chicago. This exceptional sale features private cellars from all areas of the United States and includes an extensive selection of First Growth Bordeaux, from top vintages such as 1982, 1989, 1995, 2000 and 2005 as well as Rare Burgundy from Armand Rousseau and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Collectors will take note of the 881 lots of Bordeaux offered throughout the auction, including 405 lots in original wood cases, spanning the vintages 1928-2009. There are staggering amounts of First Growth Bordeaux with 126 lots of Château Mouton Rothschild, 104 lots of Château Lafite Rothschild, 75 lots of Château Margaux, and 63 lots of Château Haut-Brion. Vast selections are offered from the great 1989, 1990, 1996 and 2000 vintages. Highlights include a case of 1990 Château Pétrus (estimated at $26,000-$38,000), a parcel of eleven cases of 2000 Château Lafite Rothschild (est. $15,000-$22,000) offered in OWC, and five cases of 2000 Château Haut-Brion (est. $6,000-$9,000) offered in OWC.
California collectors will take note of 16 lots of Screaming Eagle, 6 lots of the renowned 1974 Heitz Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Martha’s Vineyard, and large offerings of Harlan and Colgin.
Additional highlights include “AN EXTRAORDINARY SELECTION FROM A MAGNIFICENT CELLAR” from one of the most extensive and important private cellars in America. This astounding collection features three bottles of 1943 La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (est. $12,000-$18,000) – a late release from Maison Leroy, as well as wines purchased from some of the greatest named collections in America, including Marshall Coyne, Henry Singleton, Norman Alexander and Lenoir Josey.

As part of the auction weekend, Hart Davis Hart will host a special dinner, “The Legendary Wines of Château Latour” with guests Jean Garandeau & Antoine Donnedieu de Vabre from Château Latour on Friday, May 17th, at The Peninsula. Chef Lee Wolen will create a special multi-course menu featuring contemporary American cuisine designed to pair with 2002, 2000, 1996, 1995, 1971 (magnum) from Château Latour and five vintages of the celebrated 2nd wine, Les Forts de Latour.
