Rago’s Hosts Auction Open House on April 17

The Rago Arts and Auction Center hosts an open house on Wednesday, April 17, featuring a talk by author and gallerist Roy Pedersen.

“Coastal Impressions: Painters of the Jersey Shore, 1879-1940” illustrates the history of artists who lived, worked and drew inspiration from Jersey’s resplendent shores. The talk explores the works of Edward Boulton, Wyatt Eaton, Albert Reinhardt, Julius Golz, Charles Freeman, John. F. Peto, Thomas Anshutz, Hugh Campbell, and Carrie Sanborn (to name a few). An exhibition of the same name, featuring many works from Mr. Pedersen’s collection and forthcoming book, is on view at Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton, New Jersey from April 26 to September 8, 2013. It is sponsored by Rago’s.

Roy Pedersen has been a dealer in the fine and decorative arts for 25 years. His scholarship (second to none on the subject of New Jersey artists) also extends to the New Hope art colony, American Pictorialist photography, the history of American frame making, color wood block prints, Modern painting and the furniture of the Arts and Crafts Movement. He has been featured in two video documentaries on the subject of painters of the New Hope art colony. The Pedersen Gallery is located at 17 N. Union St. Hours: noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, as well as by appointment.

The talk takes place during preview week for Rago’s No Reserve and Estate auctions, to be held on April 19, 20, and 21, 2013.

The auction house and exhibition open on Wednesday, April 17 at noon. A reception begins at 5 p.m. Roy Pedersen will speak at 6 p.m.
