LITCHFIELD, Conn. – Tim’s Inc. Auctions will be kicking off our 23rd Annual Cabin Fever Auction with Tim’s 55th Birthday Celebrating St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, by marching into Spring with the Mattatuck Drum Band. In a long-standing tradition of ringing the bells for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tim will have bells on hand for auction participants. Come join the fun, grab a bell and join the band, take home an autographed guitar by your favorite rocker, and ring in our community’s support for the kids of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital! “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings”, and the angels who take care of the children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be counting on us!
The auction will also serve as a major fundraising event for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tim’s Inc. Auctions has raised over $71,850 for the cause since 2006, in memory of Peter W. Chapulis, Tim’s late father. Treasure chests, rock n’ roll memorabilia, and select estate lots will be some of the featured items on the auction block to support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia will feature guitars signed by some of the true legends of rock, such as the one and only Cher, blue’s legend BB King, Southern Rock icon Charlie Daniels (fiddle), Greg Allman, James Taylor, Edgar and the late Johnny Winter, Les Paul, the Goo-Goo Dolls, Steven Tyler, The Drifters, Jerry Cantrell, and many more. Even the full standing black bear, also featured in the auction, joins the band, strumming his very own autographed guitar! This is truly a spectacular collection of autographed rock ‘n roll memorabilia, and includes a wide variety of electric and acoustic autographed guitars as well as additional hard to find memorabilia. Our most recent auction saw a similar guitar autographed by Greg Allman reaching over $1,800, and a Charlie Daniels autographed fiddle reached over $2,400. In honor and celebration of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we are pulling out the best of the best of a personal collection of rock ‘n roll!
It’s time to sail into Spring with a 15’ Snipe model #26810, complete with trailer and nearly-new North sails, and 14’ Sunfish sail boats. The auction day will be packed with truly something for everybody, including spectacular period furniture, dazzling estate jewelry, stamps and coins, antique clock collections, original artwork, books, tools and woodworking equipment from a beautiful Litchfield estate, a full-standing black bear taxidermy mount, bookcases, lighting and many other items.
Two items that just arrived are a phenomenal Victorian-era parlor stove, adorned with Majolica round portrait panels (three on either side and on the front), made by Barstow Stove Company and with winged dragons decorating the top; and an antique floor safe made by York Safe & Lock Company (New York and York, Pa.) for Stanford H. Steel, with original gold stenciling and wheels at the base.
Furniture items are certain to wow the crowd. They include a stunning Mitchell & Rammelsberg (Cincinnati, Oh.) walnut Victorian hall rack, about eight feet tall, with full-carved fox heads at the crest and ducks on either side of the crest, possibly made for a hunting lodge; and an oak side-by-side secretary desk with a glass door for curio purposes, beautiful stick and ball spindles, a beautiful piece, cherished by the owner, and totally redone.
Furniture by the renowned 19th century maker R. J. Horner will feature an oak carved sideboard with full winged griffins adorning the mirror at the top, refurbished and ready for installation in a fine home or restaurant; This piece has been lovingly cared for and cherished by the owner (now in her seventies), including Q-tip cleaning throughout the carvings (Lot 12) . An oak one-door curio cabinet with drawer at the base, heavily carved, with barley-twist columns; and an oak carved round dining table with carved lions at the base.
Furniture pieces from a local Litchfield estate will feature hand-crafted by Thomas Moser (Freeport, Me.) will include a hand-crafted 8-foot solid cherry harvest-type dining table with short drop leaves on either end and eight Windsor chairs with arms; a two-drawer, four-door cherry server that matches the above set, a lectern desk; and a high-back stool. Also from this estate comes bronze statues of Bouviers, (Estate owned and showed purebred Bouvier dogs, and bred them as Windswept Bouviers), as well as their sign for the business. The estate also features tools and equipment, including Geralner machinist’s tool boxes, from a life’s work of woodworking.
Antique clocks will feature an Eli Terry & Sons (Plymouth, Conn.) pillar-and-scroll clock; an oak country store clock advertising Calumet Baking Powder (“Time to Buy!”) by the Sessions Clock Company (Forrestville, Conn.); four grandfather clocks, one of them mahogany, in the Gothic style, with eight chimes; banjo clocks, mostly Connecticut made, including an octagon top model with Westminster chimes, made in New Haven; and various shelf and steeple clocks.
Other items in the auction will include several coin and stamp collections from prominent local collectors; several wooden ship models; a pair of vintage cherry-colored corner speakers; many books (which may be sold in multiples or as one lot); an antique cello; a collection of marbles, all in canning jars, an estate collection of prints by Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966), a bear skin rug, and a steer Western-themed area rug. Also featured will be a large estate collection of pins, John F. Kennedy memorabilia, Beatles and rock ‘n roll pins, political pins and buttons, super hero and cartoon pins, flag pins, and many more memorabilia collectables, all being sold in one spectacular lot (Lot 72).
