Hart Davis Hart to Host Second Annual Bordeaux-Only Auction

(Chicago, IL)-HDH is excited to announce its second annual Bordeaux-only auction, A Celebration of Bordeaux, to be held on October 30th and 31st. The auction will comprise 1992 lots across 62 vintages and is estimated to garner $4.5-6.7 Million. In addition, this sale will feature direct consignments from 24 of the region’s most renowned producers, including Châteaux Mouton Rothschild, La Mission Haut-Brion, and—for the first time in the estate’s vaunted history—Léoville Las Cases.

These are storied wines whose power, depth, and complexity have come to represent the pinnacle of fine wine. This year’s Celebration of Bordeaux sale is truly unique. No other auction house in the world has ever put together such a comprehensive library of the region’s finest wines.

Friday’s session will commence with the most impressive array of château-direct consignments ever to be offered at auction. Among the offerings are vertical assortments of Château Beychevelle (lots 1-19), impeccable offerings of Château Lagrange in multiple formats (lots 75-109), case upon pristine case of Château Lynch-Bages (lots 216-245), over 30 lots of the ambrosial Château d’Yquem and Y d’Yquem (lots 284-315), as well as many other superb Châteaux. Crowning this amazing group of direct chateaux offerings will be 100 lots of the superb wines of Château Léoville-Las-Cases. Spanning six decades and with large formats ranging from magnum to Melchior, this consignment will mark the first time the Château has ever offered its library wines at auction. If you want to know what has made Bordeaux great for centuries, these are the wines to buy. HDH is honored to offer these collections with unbeatable provenance, in perfect condition, and ready for many years of glorious consumption.

Alongside the best of Bordeaux’s producers, HDH is proud to offer wines from some of the finest private Bordeaux collections in the world. Eminent among these is The Wine Collection of the Late Josué V. Harari (lots 315-611). This impeccable offering showcases the best the region has to offer, including 2000 Pétrus and Mouton in OWC, as well as First Growths from 2000 and 2005 in Imperial format, all lovingly assembled by a devoted collector and a dear friend of HDH. Other top-notch private collections include A Dazzling New England Cellar (lots 930-1006) and The Magnificent Collection of a New England Gentleman and Friend (lots 1007-1110), both of which feature selections of Margaux, Mouton, Pétrus, and Le Pin. Sauternes collectors will be sure to note A Comprehensive and Exhilarating Library of Wines (lots 1111-1287), which encompasses a deep selection of Château d’Yquem alongside a range of classic First Growth vintages.

In conjunction with the sale, HDH will host our annual Comparative Bordeaux tasting on October 29th. This year’s event will focus on the much-lauded 2000 and 2005 vintages of 20 top Châteaux including La Mission Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, and all five First Growths.

HDH’s Bordeaux sale has been designed to highlight the finest available wines in terms of both quality and provenance.
