This exceptional two-day sale kicks off our new auction year with an impressive 2036 lots of incredible diversity and provenance, valued at an estimated $4.1-$6.2 million.
HDH’s February auction contains a host of exceptional Bordeaux and Burgundy. Bidders interested in Bordeaux will find nearly 700 lots from 77 of the region’s top châteaux, with vintages dating from 1874. Collectors will want to take note of the 218 lots of first growth Bordeaux (est. $741,100 – $1,103,750) and the 28 lots from the legendary Château Pétrus (est. $205,000-$302,000). Burgundy lovers will be thrilled by the extensive offerings from highly coveted producers. There are a stunning 161 lots of DRC, including a jeroboam of 1998 Romanée-Conti (lot 1379) and two pristine 1990 Assortments in OWC (lots 529 & 530). The abundance of rare Burgundy continues with An Astounding Collection from the Cellar of a Long Time Friend of HDH (lots 1303-1356), featuring 14 lots of exceedingly rare Henri Jayer. The bottles were purchased on release, and nearly every lot has a corresponding receipt. Additional Burgundy highlights include selections from Dujac, Leroy, Roumier, Rousseau, and Vogüé. The February auction also features an array of excellent California, Rhône, and Italian wines. California is well represented by 404 lots from the region including 48 lots of Dominus (est. $44,880-$66,850), 31 lots of Opus One (est. $40,450-$60,250), and 26 lots of Harlan (est. $34,900-$51,700). Italian wine collectors will not want to miss the 5-bottle lot of 1990 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Case Basse (G. Soldera) (lot 96, est. $3,800-$5,500) while Rhône aficionados should take note of the 1990 Ermitage, Cuvée Cathelin J. L. Chave (4 bs) (lot 1350, est. $13,000-$19,000).
Finally, the selections from the iconic cellar of Mr. Lenoir Josey (lots 1129-1302) will certainly be a star collection for those focused on rarity and depth. Included in the offering is a library of Madeira with remarkable quality and truly unusual depth and quantities. Bidders will have a special opportunity to acquire older wines such as Bual from Blandy’s of the 1860 vintage (lots 1147-1150) and the 1863 vintage (lots 1157-1158).
