Tennants Vintage Leica and Nikon Camera Auction

Tennants is delighted to be offering a large collection of vintage and modern high quality 35mm cameras by Leica and Nikon in their specialist Scientific and Musical Instruments, Cameras and Tools Sale on Saturday, 31st May 2008.

cameras.jpgIncluded in the 75 lots of cameras to be sold, approximately 20 Leica and 20 Nikon cameras come from a local private collector. Each lot is expected to sell for between £80 and £1,000, some coming with extra lenses and accessories and most in good working order, ready for use. These cameras date from 1930’s through to the present day.

History has shown these mechanical cameras to have been the most popular choice for war photographers with Leica cameras widely used in World War II and Nikons used to capture the horrors of the Vietnam War. They are still used by journalists today, especially in areas where there is no access to replacement batteries which are required by modern digital or automatic cameras.

This 220 lot specialist sale also includes private collections of microscopes, binoculars, surveying and drawing equipment and medical instruments. In addition there are woodworking and other tools, musical instruments such as violins, concertinas and wind instruments, mechanical music boxes and optical toys.

These regular specialist collectors’ sales are well established at Tennants with a strong following by collectors and enthusiasts who know that they will see some fine examples of instruments, cameras and tools for sale.

Entries are being invited for Tennants next Scientific and Musical Instruments, Cameras and Tools Sale in September 2008. For more information please contact Nick Lambert at Tennants on +44(0)1969 623780
