Goodwill Auctions Authentic Edouard Cortès Painting

BALTIMORE, MD – An authentic oil on canvas by French painter Edouard Léon Cortès has sold for $40,625.00 at Sotheby’s auction house in New York. The painting, given by an unknown donor to Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake (Baltimore), depicts the flower market at the Place de la République in Paris.
“We are thrilled about this valuable donation,” says Jim Gibbons, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “With more than 65 million donors, we know many treasures can be found at Goodwill stores and on, Goodwill’s own internet auction site.”

Edouard Cortès (1882-1969) is best known for his diverse scenes of the streets and monuments of Paris, capturing the city in all its seasons. His paintings hang in dozens of galleries around the world.

Proceeds from the sale of donations to Goodwill fund job training and other support programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of people each year.
