More than 40 distressed homes in greater Memphis will be sold at auction in two sales slated for June 13 and July 14 by Roebuck Auctions. A handful are in need of repair, but many are in move-in condition or would make excellent real estate investments. The sales will be held at the Roebuck Real Estate Auction Gallery, at 4932 Park Avenue in Memphis. Online bidding will also be possible, through the Roebuck Auctions website, www.roebuckauctions.com.
Thirteen properties from multiple credit unions in the Memphis area will cross the block on Saturday, June 13. These will carry modest reserves, or minimums, but all should sell, said Robert A. Shively of Roebuck Auctions. “These credit unions are motivated,” he pointed out. “Yes, there will be a floor – a bottom selling point – but it won’t be high. These homes will sell.”
The Saturday, July 14 event will be a little bit different. All 29 homes will be sold in an absolute auction, meaning they will sell to the highest bidder, regardless of price. “We are working with one area bank for the July 14 auction,” Mr. Shively said, “and it has instructed us to market and sell every property. Bidders can expect potentially some great bargains that day.”
Mr. Shively said Roebuck Auctions is a full-service auction firm that holds more than just home foreclosure sales. “It’s an unfortunate sign of the times that a growing segment of our business is dedicated to distress sales,” he said, “but banks and other lenders like working with us because we are a nationally recognized firm with a state-of-the-art real estate auction gallery.”
