Kaminski’s Annual Thanksgiving Auction

Kaminski Auctions, one of Massachusetts’ premier antiques and fine art auction houses, announces its Annual Thanksgiving Auction. The auction features antiques, fine art, collectibles and a number of Art Deco pieces from estates spanning Massachusetts to Kaminski’s second location in California. The auction takes place Saturday November 28 and Sunday, November 29 at Woodman’s Function Hall, Rt. 133 Main Street, Essex, MA. Bidding commences at 10am each day. Ralph Albert BlakelockHighlighting this exciting two-day auction is a rare early 18th Century tall clock by John Fletcher, London (Est. $20,000-$30,000). The japanned clock stands just over eight feet tall and boasts brass accents and an ornate Asian landscape decoration on the façade. Included in the lot are the clock’s original key, pendulum and weights. The piece comes from the Edward Cromwell (1680-1756) Family, one of the first families on Nantucket, Massachusetts, and also includes a complete genealogy.

Among a diverse selection of fine jewelry is a violet blue tanzanite and diamond ring (Est. $20,000-$30,000). The tanzanite center stone is a hefty 12.45 carats, the 14 round-cut diamonds total 1.15 carats and four princess cut diamonds total .30 carats. The stones are fixed on a fine platinum setting by DeScenza Jewelers of Peabody, MA.

A figural sculpture by renowned American sculptor Albert Wein is also offered. Fountain of Youth (Est. $10,000-$20,000), a signed bronze on a travertine marble base, measures 31 inches in length and is 18 inches tall. Wein, a member of the WPA and prolific artist in the style, is highly collected today. He is known for his unique style, which blends elements of Classicism and Modernism.

Additional fine art offerings include a landscape painting by Ralph Albert Blakelock (American, 1847-1919). The painting, titled Indian Encampment (Est. $5,000-$10,000), is a fine example of Blakelock’s Luminist style of painting. The oil on wood panel painting measures 19.75 x 27.75 inches and is signed.
