Bankrupt Billionaire’s Assets Auctioned by Kamelot Auction House

Kamelot Auction House, one of Philadelphia’s premier auction companies, is pleased to announce they have been chosen to host the sale of the former furnishings and art of the posh Montana Yellowstone Club. The auction, which will take place on Saturday, November 21st at Kamelot’s 15,000 square foot auction house, is the result of the highly-publicized 2009 divorce and subsequent bankruptcy of the real estate mogul Edra Blixseth.

At the peak of their success, the Blixseth’s created the posh, gated Yellowstone Club community near Big Sky, Montana—often referred to as ‘anti-Aspen’ and a private playground for the uber-rich. The couple had amassed a Fortune 500 empire of international real estate holdings and, according to Forbes in 2005, Mr. Blixseth’s net worth had well exceeded 1 billion dollars. The couple’s 30,000 square foot Yellowstone Club private residence, in addition to many common areas within the community, offered Mrs. Blixseth miles of rooms to decorate with lavish antiques, decorative arts, fine art and other historic furniture, lighting and carpets. Now, as a result of their recent divorce and her collapse into bankruptcy, some of the world’s legendary furnishings and most unique time pieces are available to the public with no reserves at this bank-forced sale.

“We are thrilled to have the unique opportunity to offer our entire Yellowstone-collection to our guests without any minimum bids, or reserves,” said Jeff Kamal, President and CEO of Kamelot Auction House. “Our customers will have a rare chance to acquire generously proportioned and elaborately crafted furniture from around the world, as well as stained glass, antique iron, carved stone, and more; all which reflects the former Mrs. Blixseth’s extravagant taste and flair for grand gestures,” he continued.

The November 21st auction-event promises unique deals on many curiosities, commercial fixtures and colorful collectible furnishings, too. Nearly fifty rugs in a variety of styles and sizes, will also be offered without any opening bid minimum along with wooden telephone booths, antique display cases, industrial tables and shelving, taxidermy and vintage sporting equipment. A rare pair of carved and mirrored Victorian billiard cue racks and scoreboard will be offered along with two full-sized bronze horses and Colonial riders and a pair of life-size cast bronze elk which stand nearly ten feet high.

Although the Yellowstone Club now has new owners and maintains a guest list which includes celebrities like Jack Kemp, Greg LeMond, Dan Quayle and Bill Gates, the 300+ piece Kamelot Yellowstone-collection promises to present tremendous bargains for casual collectors as well as serious opportunities for professional buyers; all who want to own a part of what has now become American history.
