Auctions of Seaside and Mountainside Estates Planned in Carolinas and Colorado

Grand Estates Auction Co. is offering seven distinctive homes in June at “absolute” auctions, where no set starting bid or minimum reserve immediately establishes the true market value and assures a prompt sale that benefits both buyer and seller.

Grand Estates, America’s top luxury real estate auction firm, will offer rare retreats near Charleston, S.C., on Tuesday, June 8, including the 12-acre Wadmalaw Estate and four beachfront condominiums featuring rooftop terraces and private courtyards. On Tuesday, June 15, the featured properties include a 20-acre mountaintop estate near Boone, N.C., and a five-bedroom, seven-bathroom log home built into the foothills of Conifer, Colo., 15 miles southwest of Denver.

Grand Estates’ auctions have an 11-year track record of quickly selling multi-million-dollar homes that previously languished on the market with conventional sales-listing methods. In May, Grand Estates sold the Buckhead penthouse of former Coca-Cola Enterprises CEO John R. Alm in a lively auction that attracted more than 350 inquiries and 65 families who previewed the property. In April, Grand Estates sold a five-bedroom estate in the Sullivan’s Island section of Charleston, S.C., in an absolute auction after it had been listed with two real estate firms for four years without receiving a single offer.

At 11 a.m. on June 8, the four newly constructed luxury condos, all featuring spacious 3,000 square-foot interiors with four bedroom suites each with its own private bathroom, will be auctioned in Folly Beach, just 15 minutes from downtown Charleston. These units offer sweeping Atlantic Ocean views from every floor, topped by rooftop terraces reached by spiral staircases from the private courtyards.

The second June 8 auction, at 2 p.m., will feature the Wadmalaw Estate, one of the most exclusive residences in the Charleston area. The custom-designed, meticulously manicured property is staged among five separate buildings, including a 6,800-square-foot main residence, garage space for nine cars, a guest cottage, staff quarters and a climate-controlled greenhouse. The property offers 900 feet of deep-water frontage on the Bohicket River, a 700-foot oversize boardwalk along the riverfront and a boat dock that includes a covered lift, floating dock and two jet ski floats.

Both the Conifer, Colo., and Boone, N.C., mountain retreats will be auctioned at 2 p.m. on June 15. Built in 2009, the Conifer home has 9,000-plus square feet, five bedrooms, seven bathrooms – and its own naturally built backyard rock climbing wall. It includes two additional lots over 25 acres. The Boone property is situated on 20-plus acres atop a private ridge, with four bedrooms, three full and three half baths in a 7,200-plus-square-foot home with an additional 2,000-plus square feet of surrounding patios and porches.

Understanding that casting the widest net will attract the most qualified bidders, Grand Estates’ 20-person team utilizes its broad experience in marketing luxury real estate to produce attention-grabbing marketing materials and advertising in national and international high-end publications. “The system developed by Grand Estates offers an exclusive experience similar to auctioning fine art,” said Stacy Kirk, president of Grand Estates, with offices in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, La Jolla, Calif., Naples, Fla., and Vail, Colo. “The multi-million-dollar property buyer is very specific in what they’re seeking, and we understand this market better than anyone.”

Grand Estates auctions are open only to registered bidders, who are required to submit a refundable cashier’s or certified check prior to the auction. Prospective bidders and sellers should contact Grand Estates Auction Co. at 800 552-8120 or 704 529-0026 for bid registration requirements and to inquire about the showing schedule before the auctions.
