Montserrat College of Art Successful ARTRAGEOUS 24! Auction

Montserrat College of Art’s ( annual Artrageous24! benefit art auction raised more than $225,000.00 for student scholarship — a 12% increase in the financial aid the college can offer to students from the annual benefit event. according to Auction Co-chairs Linda Harvey and Liz Dellicker.

“We would like to publicly thank our team of dedicated, hard-working auction committee volunteers, Henrietta Gates who took control of sponsorship and increased that amount by 25%, and Betsy Hopkins, who increased our advertising by 33%,” Ms. Harvey said.

“We also want to publicly thank Team Leaders and Trustees, Henrietta Gates, who increased our Corporate Sponsorships by 25%, and Betsy Hopkins, who increased our advertising by 33%. They did a fantastic job, bringing the Auction to a new level,” Ms Harvey said.

Ms. Dellicker added, “This year’s auction was the most well attended ever and raised $225,000.00, approximately 12% more than in previous years. We are extremely grateful for the support of the local business community, alumni, faculty, students and of course the College’s Board of Trustees. The scholarship aid this auction provides to Montserrat students is invaluable.”

Stephen D. Immerman, Ed.D, Montserrat College of Art President, explained, “The Auction helps provide and maintain one of the most important elements of the College. With nearly 95% of our students on scholarship, the funds raised help many students through their degree programs, as well as attract the highly talented students that make Monserrat such as outstanding educational institution.”

Alumnus Eric Hopkins of North Haven Island, Maine, was this year’s Honorary Artist. Through his art and with his thoughts and ideas about life on this Big Blue Planet, Hopkins is internationally known for dynamic patterns of nature captured in watercolors, oils, blown glass and photography.

ARTRAGEOUS 24! included work by some of the finest professional artists in the region representing alumni, faculty, staff, students, trustees and friends. Famous artists like renowned printmaker Will Barnet, and painter Norman Laliberte, photographers Edward Burtynsky and Neal Rantoul were featured, Live and silent auctions were juried by Carey Vose of Vose Gallery, Martha Richardson of the Martha Richardson Gallery and Zola Solomente of the Arden Gallery.
