Seller Nye & Company Announces Auction of Fine & Decorative Arts

The Nye & Company auction consists of some 680 lots that are live now through October 6th, 2010 on www.igavelauctions.com. The auction, which includes Fine and Decorative Arts, Silver, Photographs, Jewelry, Rugs and Carpets spanning the 18th-20th centuries, is made up primarily of estate property that is diverse and new to the marketplace. Highlights of the fine art in this auction include works by the American artist Maria Richards Oakley Dewing (1845- 1927), the French artists Henri Matisse (1869-1954) and Marie Laurencin (1885-1956), the California Impressionist F. Raymond (20th century) and the Norwegian painter, Hans Olaf Heyerdahl (1857-1913). The auction also includes Tiffany Silver, a fine Steinway Model L grand piano from 1933, diverse English furniture, and numerous tribal rugs. Approximately 100 lots are from the noted actor Carroll O’Connor, Archie Bunker in the 1970’s sitcom, “All in the Family”. Decorative arts are well represented with a wide array of objects. For example a William and Mary walnut-veneered chest-of- drawers, a gutsy mahogany corner chair, a Regency revolving mahogany two-tier stand and a rare Art Nouveau porcelain dinner service. There is a rarely seen Meissen pattern with a large number of pieces available for bidding as well in the Nye & Company auction. Nye & Company relocated to Montclair and Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible from New York City.
