Bonhams announce it will be offering two cars from the Patrick Collection at its annual sale of Collectors’ Motor Cars and Automobilia at Goodwood Festival of Speed on 1 July 2011.
With one owner from new and minimal mileage on the odometers, the 1986 Lancia Delta S4 ‘Stradale’ and the 1990 Alfa Romeo SZ Coupe have attracted pre-sale estimates of £80,000 – 100,000 and £20,000 – £25,000 respectively.
The cars are being sold by the Patrick Foundation, which owns the vehicles within the Patrick Collection. During the 1970s and 80s the Patrick Collection amassed an enviable and wide-ranging collection, mostly by acquiring new – or effectively new – models that were interesting or innovative in some way. Bonhams have previously handled two dispersal sales on behalf of the Foundation and this further sale represents a rare opportunity to acquire two limited edition Italian exotics in one owner showroom condition.
The highlight of Bonhams’ Goodwood sale is a rare and handsome 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Cabriolet, previously owned by the legendary Grand Prix and sports-racing driver, Innes Ireland, while other important motor cars already consigned include a 1925 Bugatti Type 35 (estimate £400,000 – 500,000); a 1926 Bugatti Type 37, chassis no. BC78 (£120,000 – 160,000); a 1937 Bentley 41/4-Litre Allweather Tourer by Vanden Plas (£130,000 – 150,000); and a 1928 Bentley 3-Litre Speed Model (estimate £120,000 – 140,000), which has belonged to the same family since 1945.
