Bonhams to Sell Largest Collection of Patek Philippe Watches to Come to Auction

As part of their Fine Watch and Wristwatch auction Bonhams will offer 35 Patek Philippe watches – the most significant selection ever offered in a London auction. The sale will take place on Wednesday 14 December at Bonhams, 101 New Bond Street, London.

Patek Philippe made the first wrist watch in 1868 and since then have produced many of the world’s most desirable watches, renowned for their chronographs and complicated timepieces. They pioneered the perpetual calendar, chronograph, and minute repeater in watches, and examples of these are on offer in this sale.

Highlights include a very rare Ref: 3448 perpetual calendar moonphase with original box and papers from 1970 (£100,000-150,000), a Ref: 5970P also with factory box and papers (£80,000-120,000) and an extremely rare Ref: 5101P Tourbillon in platinum (£100,000-150,000).

Paul Maudsley, International Director of the Watch Department comments, “This particular selection of Patek Philippe watches consists of a wonderful variety of their chronograph and perpetual calendar models. The market is very buoyant for exceptional pieces like this and I’m delighted to be offering these as well as many other Fine Watches in our London auction rooms. This sale, combined with our very strong sales coming up in Hong Kong and New York, will be a fitting end to our most successful year so far.”
