Bonhams kicks off its autumn season of Fine & Rare Wine sales on 13th September with a wonderfully broad selection of wines from top producers in all corners of the world. The auction will take place in New Bond Street, London.
Three private collections, all from professional storage, include a magnificent range of Burgundy from leading Domaines, such as Comte Georges de Vogüé, Dugat-Py, Dujac, Comtes Lafon, Leflaive, Marquis d’Angerville, de Montille, Jacques-Frederic Mugnier, Georges Roumier and Armand Rousseau.
of these collections also includes a range of top German wines, rarely seen at auction but much appreciated by lovers of fine Riesling, from JJ Prüm, Maximin Grünhäuser and Christoph Tyrrell.
A magnificent range of Italian wines , mostly consigned from a Belgian collector, include such gems as Amarones from dal Forno and Quintarelli, Barolos from Giacomo Conterno, Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Sandrone and Vietti, Brunellos from Case Basse, Col d’Orcia and Gaja and super Tuscans such as Masseto, Ornellaia, Sassicaia and Solaia.
Bordeaux, always the main component in wine auctions, offers an impressive range from 1858 to 2009 and Cru Bourgeois up to Premier Grand Cru Classé. Top lots include cases of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion 1975, Pétrus 1982 and 1985, Margaux 1981, 1983 and 1985, Lafite-Rothschild 1986 and 1990, Mouton Rothschild 1989, Cheval Blanc 1990 and Latour 1990.
The diversity of this auction is such that wines from across the globe are well represented with Massandra from Crimea, Penfold’s Kalimna Bock 42 Cabernet from South Australia, Chateau Musar from the Lebanon, Harlan Estate from California, Domaine Tempier from Bandol, Domaine de Trévallon from Provence, old Solera Pedro Ximenez and Rioja from Spain, Trockenbeerenauslese from Kracher in Austria, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon from New Zealand in addition to a range of Alsace and Rhone, including a case of Chateauneuf du Pape, Cuvée Centenaire 1998 from Les Cailloux.
The sale concludes with a fine collection of rare Cognac, including bottles of 1806 and 1811 vintage as well as Remy Martin Louis XIII Black Pearl and Frapin Francois Rabelais.
Further auctions this autumn will be held on 25th October and 6th December in London and 21st November in Hong Kong.
