Four 1930s chandeliers from London’s Adelphi Plaza hotel highlight Unique Auctions Antique & Vintage Chandelier and Lighting Sale on the 6th/7th October.
1930s Chandeliers from Adelphi Plaza Hotel London
Each chandelier, made up of 2,500 crystals and weighing a quarter of a ton, hung in the Adelphi Plaza – a hotel formerly in London’s theatre district. They were specially made in England for the plaza in 1931, a year before the end of the Great Depression. They were taken down in 1999, when the hotel was transformed into apartments.
Other highlights of the sale include a 6 tier, 90 arm chandelier measuring nearly 9ft tall. The sale also includes 800 renovated and approximately 1700 unrestored chandeliers.
The sale takes place on the 6th and 7th October (start 9am GMT) is being held by Unique Auctions on site at Philips & Sons Lighting Showrooms, Unit 11 Riverside, Allens Business Park, Skellingthorpe Rd, Saxilby, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, LN1 2LR.
