Chicago, IL – Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. is pleased to announce our annual “Celebration of Burgundy,” an auction devoted exclusively to the wines of Burgundy. This special 1,440 lot sale will be held on March 28th in Chicago and is estimated to fetch $2,747,040-$4,103,630. With worldwide demand for Burgundy at an all-time high, the scope of this auction is expected to attract bidders from all over North and South America, Europe and Asia.
With just a cursory glance through the catalog, bidders will note this auction’s remarkable coverage of the region: 144 Burgundian domaines are represented, with vintages ranging from 1949 to 2013. The sale boasts an encyclopedic array of wines from Coche-Dury, Dujac, Fourrier, Jayer, Leflaive, Leroy, Rousseau, Roumier, Vogüé and their peers. Whether you are a seasoned Burgundy collector or are just getting to know the region for the first time, this auction is well worth your attention.
No Burgundy sale would be complete without DRC, and this auction has it in spades. Bidders will find an impressive 133 lots from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti spanning 39 vintages and estimated at $722,350–$1,077,600. Included are 7 assortments in owc and 115 bottles of La Tâche.
HDH is thrilled to represent a number of consignments with particularly impeccable provenance in this auction. These include an extensive selection of wines from Henri Jayer purchased upon release by the current owner (lots 172-212), as well as a stunning offering of white Burgundy from Coche-Dury, DRC, Leflaive, Leroy, Raveneau and more assembled by one of the world’s most esteemed collectors (all acquired on release, lots 436-539). In addition, the auction also features wines direct from the cellars of Fourrier and Hudelot-Noëllat (lots 372-435). This includes Grand Cru offerings from Jean-Marie Fourrier’s exciting new négociant business.
In conjunction with the auction, HDH will host an evening celebration on March 27th at Everest featuring the exceptional wines and cuisine of Burgundy. Special guest Jack Daniels of renowned importer, Wilson Daniels – the exclusive importer for DRC and Domaine Leflaive, will share his extensive knowledge of his company’s distinctive portfolio. The special tasting menu will be a culinary collaboration of Chef Johan Bjorkland from Bistro de L’Hôtel de Beaune and celebrated Chicago chef Jean Joho.
