IN A GALAXY NOT TOO FAR AWAY…. STAR WARS AUCTION TO MAKE FAMOUS COLLECTIBLES AFFORDABLE

CHISWICK AUCTIONS is delighted to offer a private collection of Star Wars memorabilia in a special auction on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. The sale, which includes figures and posters from the 1970s, 80s and 90s consists of a total of more than 100 pieces grouped into 34 lots, with estimates ranging from £50 upwards. With an enormous following around the world, the auction house anticipates huge interest, especially at such affordable prices.

STAR WARS AUCTIONThe collection was amassed by one owner, who like many, was passionate about Star Wars and all that went with it. He collected for most of his life, with each ‘treasure’ being stored carefully, hence their excellent condition.

Tom Keane, specialist for the sale said: “Everyone knows the cult following of this film series and the excitement of being able to attain part of the original souvenirs and merchandise should make a lot of people happy!”

A toy figure of Logray, the Ewok Medicne Man dates from 1983. This highly collectable piece was produced by British toy company Palitoy, who have manufactured some of the most popular toys in Britain, e.g. Action Man, Tiny Tears and the Care Bears. In the Star Wars film series Ewok first appears with Princess Leia on planet Endor. The figure, which is still in its original box, is estimated to fetch £40-£60.

A film poster promoting the original Star Wars film was produced by Zig Zag posters and features and the main characters in action. The poster is being sold with five other posters for the movies Star Wars Episode II and a 1980s Star Wars lunch box and flask. It has a group estimate of £40-£60.

Also in the sale is a figure of the character Nien Nunb in its original box. In the films the character was a male arms dealer and pilot in the ‘Alliance Fleet’. He joined the Alliance to restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. The figure was produced by American toy company Kenner, which was founded in 1947 and remained until 2000. They produced several highly recognizable toys and merchandise lines, including the Star Wars series. This figure is in its original box and is estimated to fetch £60-£80.

A 1984 boxed figure of another well-known character, The Emperor, or Darth Sidious, is set to be popular. He is depicted as the elderly pale, cloaked Emperor of the Galactic Empire and outwardly appears to be a well-intentioned public servant and supporter of democracy (prior to becoming Emperor), but he is in fact Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith – a cult of practitioners of the dark side of the force previously thought to have been extinct in the Star Wars galaxy for a millennium. As Sidious, he instigates the Clone Wars, nearly destroys the Jedi, and transforms the Republic into the Empire. He also corrupts Anakin Skywalker to serve at his side as Darth Vader. Palpatine’s reign is brought to an end by Luke Skywalker and the redeemed Anakin Skywalker. The figure, which was produced by Palitoy is estimated to fetch £50-£80.
