A large and fascinating collection of photographs documenting the history and changing face of Lichfield will be offered for sale at the forthcoming Country House & Collectors Sale at the Fradley Park Auction Centre of Richard Winterton Auctioneers on Wednesday 27th September (sale commences at 10.00am).
The archive compiled over many years by a local lady, features photographs and documents showing the constantly evolving landscape of the city including many street scenes, buildings, changing shop fronts, demolition and new construction, architectural features and details, images of the Bower procession from different years, panoramic views, the restoration of Darwin’s House, the cathedral including details of the Queen’s visit to distribute the Maundy Money in 1988. Catalogue estimate is £1000 -£1200.
Viewing for the sale takes place on Saturday 23rd September between 10.30am and 12.30pm & Tuesday 26th September between 10.00am & 6.00pm and on the morning of the sale from 8.30am.
