ANDREW JONES AUCTIONS HOLIDAY EDITION OF THE DESIGN FOR THE HOME & GARDEN AUCTION, HELD NOV. 18th ONLINE AND IN LOS ANGELES, IS A SUCCESS

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A striking pair of Art Deco silver mounted ruby glass vases by Jean Puiforcat sold for $28,750, a pair of retro Van Cleef & Arpels gold, diamond and ruby ear clips fetched $13,750 and a Rolex Steve McQueen Explorer II stainless steel wristwatch hit $17,500 at Andrew Jones Auctions’ Nov. 18 holiday edition of the Design for the Home & Garden Auction.

The auction was held online, via LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com, and in the Andrew Jones Auctions gallery at 2221 South Main Street in Los Angeles. Featured were several private collections, notably the collection of world art from David and Barbara Hart of Palos Verdes Estates, which was 100 percent sold. Overall, the auction had a little something for everybody.

The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff welcomed a full in-room audience, as attendees enjoyed coffee, snacks and a box lunch. Company president and CEO Andrew Jones remarked, “We continue to attract new buyers of all ages, locally and internationally, with intriguing pieces beautifully presented. We look forward to a full sale calendar and continued success in 2019.”

The auction comprised a selection of more than 350 lots of decorative and fine art, furniture, silver, modern design, fine jewelry, fine jewelry and Asian works of art, which garnered much attention, as an exquisite and ornate bronze birdcage hook from the Hart collection realized $11,050 and a pair of rock crystal wall lights in the manner of Maison Bagues achieved $5,250.

The garden furnishings section was especially popular with bidders. A pair of limestone sphinxes gaveled for $6,250, and a pair of Louis XVI limestone columns brought $7,50. Notable in the fine art category was a small but masterful landscape painting of a Swiss valley by Albert Bierstadt ($8,750); and a whimsical drawing of a cat by Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita ($5,000).

Approximately 75 people attended the auction in person, while 882 others registered to bid online, via the aforementioned platforms. There were 89 phone bids and 99 absentee bids placed.

Andrew Jones Auctions’ next auction, DTLA Collections & Estates, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 20, also online and in the Los Angeles gallery. That will be followed by a Design for the Home & Garden auction, in March 2019. See the website for details: www.AndrewJonesAuctions.com.
