CRANSTON, R.I. – A Vintage Pop Culture Auction bursting with more than 300 lots of movie posters, vintage lunchboxes, cap guns, original toy artwork and more is scheduled for Saturday, January 12th, by Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers, online and in the firm’s gallery located at 63 Fourth Avenue in Cranston, starting at 12 noon Eastern, with a 150-lot, in-house-only pre-sale at 10 am.

The first portion of the catalog will offer 169 lots of movie posters, featuring a selection of original Star Wars (1977), Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi posters; original Toho American release Gammera the Invincible and Mothra one-sheets; plus posters from Halloween (1978), Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Rocky (1977); Jaws (1975); Godzilla and many others.

The second portion of the catalog will feature the lunchbox and toy collection of a Rhode Island gentleman, highlighted by 30 original concept and production toy paintings by designer Dexter Liu of LCD International of Newport, R.I. Original art offerings will include Coleco Sectaurs production art, unreleased Coleco Dungeons & Dragons artwork and Coleco Dr. Seuss artwork.

The 84 lunchboxes will be led by a 1967 American Thermos Lost in Space metal dome-top lunchbox (est. $600-$900); a 1965 Aladdin The Beatles metal lunchbox with thermos instruction sheet, original Aladdin sticker and original owner sticker (est. $1,000-$2,000); a 1968 Aladdin Star Trek metal dome-top lunchbox (est. $500-$800); and a 1966 Aladdin Hogan’s Heroes metal dome-top lunchbox (est. $500-$800). All come with matching metal and plastic thermos bottles.

The auction will conclude with 37 lots of antique and vintage cap guns, including Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Dale Robertson holster sets from manufacturers such as Hubley, Kilgore, Nichols and Mattel. “I don’t think you could ask for a cooler collection of items,” said Bruneau & Co. president and auctioneer Kevin Bruneau. “Whether you were a child of the 1940s or a child of the 1980s, there is definitely something for you in this great auction.”

Travis Landry, Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers’ Director of Pop Culture and auctioneer, added, “It’s good to have a change of pace from the traditional Star Wars or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys. It’s not every day you handle near-new old stock cap guns and rare, vintage lunchboxes.”

The 30 original concept and production toy paintings by Dexter Liu of LCD International will include watercolors on paper laid on cardboard for Dr. Seuss inflatable toys, to include The Cat in the Hat, Horton and a Sneetch, overall 11 ½ inches by 14 ½ inches; and the Coleco Sectaurs Waspyx character and action figure, 17 inches by 14 inches (both are estimated at $400-$600).

Mid-20th century toy guns are sure to generate nostalgia in the crowd. Examples will include:

• Kilgore Long Tom six-shooter cast iron cap gun pistol, mint in the original box. The gun measures 10 ¼ inches long and is in working condition. In fact, it appears to be virtually unused. The box shows very little wear. Overall a beautiful package (est. $400-$600).
