Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. Presents “A Celebration of Burgundy: An Auction of Finest & Rarest Wines” on March 23rd in Chicago

(Chicago, IL) – Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. is pleased to announce “A Celebration of Burgundy,” an auction devoted exclusively to the wines of Burgundy. This special 1469 lot sale will be held on March 23rd in Chicago and is estimated to fetch $2,952,820-$4,422,620. With worldwide demand for Burgundy at an all-time high, the scope of this auction is expected to attract bidders from all over North and South America, Europe and Asia.

The auction contains an extensive offering from the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, encompassing 175 total lots, spanning 33 vintages from 1966-2009. Included are 15 assortment cases and over 230 bottles of La Tâche. In addition to DRC, other legendary estates of the Côte d’Or are presented throughout the auction, with exciting offerings from Comte de Vogüé, Domaine Leflaive, Ramonet and Armand Rousseau. Of particular note are 38 lots of Coche-Dury spanning 22 vintages and estimated at $111,720- $168,650.

The selection of Henri Jayer is remarkable. The 52 lots are highlighted by a bottle of 1985 Richebourg estimated at $9,000-$14,000 and two bottles of 1985 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux estimated at $8,000-$12,000. A number of original purchase receipts have been reprinted in the auction catalog to further add to the provenance of these rare wines.

The auction will be held at award-winning Tru Restaurant in Chicago, and attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a special Burgundy-themed lunch created by Executive Chef Anthony Martin, paired with various wines from celebrated Burgundy producers.

In conjunction with the auction, private tastings and dinners will take place in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Chicago. Chef Johan Bjorklund from Bistro de L’Hôtel de Beaune will be in Chicago to create a special dinner with Chef Andrew Zimmerman at Sepia Restaurant. The wine focus for the evening will be the much acclaimed Domaine Hudelot-Nöellat, and winemaker Charles Van Canneyt will be on hand providing insight on his impressive wines.
