(Chicago, IL) – Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. is pleased to announce “A Celebration of Burgundy,” an auction devoted exclusively to the wines of Burgundy. This special 1,358 lot sale will be held on May 17th in Chicago and is estimated to fetch $2,619,270-$3,928,150. With worldwide demand for Burgundy at an all-time high, the scope of this auction is expected to attract bidders from all over North and South America, Europe and Asia.
The auction contains an extensive offering of 142 total lots spanning 28 vintages from the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, estimated at $1.0-$1.5M. Included are 11 assortment cases and over 150 bottles of La Tâche. The selection offered in lots 216-240, comprising only wines from DRC, comes from the legendary Fox Cellar, offering exceptional provenance and storage conditions.
In addition to DRC, other legendary estates of the Côte d’Or are presented throughout the auction, with exciting offerings from Comte de Vogüé, Domaine Leflaive, Ramonet and Roumier. Of particular note are 83 lots of Rousseau spanning 25 vintages and estimated at $200,000- $300,000 anchored by 1990 Chambertin, Armand Rousseau (6 bs) estimated $8,000-$12,000.
HDH is also thrilled to offer domaine-direct collections from Hudelot-Noëllat and Remoissenet, as well as an offering direct from the cellars of L’Hôtel de Beaune. Highlights from these special groups include a case of 2012 Romanée-St.-Vivant, Hudelot-Noëllat (est. $4,200-$6,500); 1952 Clos Vougeot, Remoissenet (est. $5,500-$8,500), and 2011 Clos de la Roche, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Ponsot (6 mags) (est. $4,000-$6,000).
The auction will be held at award-winning TRU in Chicago, and attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a special Burgundy-themed lunch created by Executive Chef Anthony Martin, paired with various wines from celebrated Burgundy producers.
In conjunction with the auction, HDH will host an evening celebration on May 16th at Ada St. featuring the exceptional wines and cuisine of Burgundy. Special guests Pierre-Antoine Rovani, former critic for Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and current president of Remoissenet Pere et Fils, and winemaker Charles Van Canneyt, grandson of Alain Hudelot, will be on hand to share insight, wine and their passion for Burgundy. The casual family style dinner will be a culinary collaboration of Chef Johan Bjorkland from Bistro de L’Hôtel de Beaune and Ada St. restaurant Chefs Michael Kornick and Zoe Shor.
